More than 200 submissions were lodged as part of the Independent Inquiry into Victoria's Environment Protection Authority (EPA). The Inquiry's consultation into the future of the EPA has now concluded.
This wraps up an intensive consultation process that started in August 2015 with the Chair of the Independent Inquiry's Ministerial Advisory Committee, Ms Penny Armytage, Deputy Chair Jane Brockington and member Janice van Reyk hosting a series of public consultation meetings in 10 regional and seven metropolitan locations across Victoria.
The Independent Inquiry also met with over 250 representatives across industry, environment groups and local government in roundtable discussions, to understand the changing requirements of the EPA, and explore matters relating to the Terms of Reference for the Inquiry.
"I am delighted that Victorians have taken this opportunity to have a say on the future of the EPA. The EPA faces challenges in the future in the face of a changing climate and increasing population. I thank everyone who has attended meetings, made a submission and had a say," Ms Armytage said.
The Inquiry will report to the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water by 31 March 2016.
